“Your idea should be something that excites you, and if it does; then it shouldn’t be hard to be passionate about it.” – Peter Schroeder
Enter Peter Schroeder: some months ago he embraced with his technical founder, the hard quest of unifying messaging. In this interview, he will explain you the reason of why he believes his brand new company, UNUM Messenger, of which he is CEO, will change the way you communicate and will make your life easier.
What problem is UNUM Messenger going to solve?
We are trying to address the issue of people having too many platforms for communication. I use over 20 apps to communicate with individuals in some way shape or form. It has gotten to be too cumbersome to have to jump around our phones and try to keep track of all the conversations we have going.
UNUM Messenger aims to solve for this by giving people a central location for all of their communications. In our first phase, we will be attempting to unify messaging. For later stages, we want to centralize every type of communication. This includes things like email, calls, video chat, calendars, and more. The ultimate goal is to simplify communication through unification. We also plan to have native messaging features as well.
What inspired you to UNUM Messenger?
I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit and knew the moment I had an idea worth pursuing; I would do so. The main thing that inspired me was this was an issue I face on a daily basis and wanted to solve it.
All entrepreneurs have a list of ideas to create. Why did you decide that UNUM Messenger was the one worth pursuing?
The idealist is endless for me, but to have one worth pursuing – it needed it to solve a widespread issue. It needed to be something everyone in the world could use an benefit from. That is exactly what UNUM messenger will do.
What gets you out of bed in the morning?
What is the biggest hurdle you have faced or are still facing?
Having to work full-time well building a business.
What’s the biggest mistake you’ve made?
The biggest mistake I have made is taking on too much too quickly. Building a business should be done with a long-term goal in mind, not a short sprint. When I first started out, I was working over 50 hours a week on top of my full-time job. I got burnt out and now am finding a better balance.
Where do you see UNUM Messenger in 5 years from now?
Five years from now, I see UNUM messenger being the most widely used app in the world. People need communication, and I believe we can provide the world something like they have never seen before.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I see myself as CEO of UNUM messenger – the most popular app in the world.
What do you find most exciting and rewarding about running Unum Messenger?
The most interesting thing is building something that people can benefit from. We are solving a problem and making people’s lives easier. It’s quite rewarding to be helping people with technology.
What are your future thoughts about your industry?
Messaging is the one thing people do on their phones more than social media, and I don’t see that trend letting up. People will always need to communicate with others on an individual basis. The industry will continue to grow rapidly as more of the world continues to get access to phones and the internet.
